Emma Raducanu planning packed October schedule with three tournaments starting at Indian Wells as she posts ‘nothing beats training’
Fresh from her US Open victory, Emma Raducanu is getting straight back onto the court and has a packed schedule in October.
The 18-year-old has had a whirlwind month, claiming her first ever grand slam title, ending Britain’s 44-year wait for a female champion.
Her status exploded to superstar level as she saw her face plastered on New York’s famous billboards and then attended the Met Gala.
Since returning to Bromley the madness has not stopped as she has spoken to plenty of media outlets, become an ambassador for Tiffany and played a game of tennis with the Duchess of Cambridge.
Raducanu was also seen on the red carpet for the James Bond premiere.
But that has not distracted from her tennis as she has been back in training after taking a week off in the immediate aftermath of the US Open final.
She has uploaded plenty of training videos on the court – once she was able to get one!
In the latest clip upload to Twitter she captioned it: “Nothing beats this #work.”
That work will hopefully pay off for the teenager as she prepares to take to the court again next week, and has a stacked schedule for October.
Indian Wells begins on Wednesday, October 6 and is a prestigious tournament that lasts for two weeks.
Should she make it all the way in California, she will then head straight to the Kremlin Cup in Moscow.
That could keep her busy from October 18-24 and then she is down to play Cluj-Napoca, which starts on October 25.
Cluj-Napoca is held in Romania, where her father is from.
Raducanu may have eyes on making the WTA Tour finals in November and currently sits 14th in the race to the tournament.
There are more than enough ranking points on offer to get her there, likely to be top 10 needed, should she make good runs in the events.
The 18-year-old is currently without a coach, though, as she parted ways with Andrew Richardson in the aftermath of the US Open.
She said: “I feel like at this stage in my career, and playing the top players in the world, I realised I really need someone right now that has had that WTA Tour experience at the high levels, which means that I’m looking for someone who has been at that level and knows what it takes.
“And especially right now because I’m so new to it, I really need someone to guide me who’s already been through that.”
On her conversation with Richardson, she said: “Obviously having such an experience with your team, it’s tough to have that conversation with anyone, but I think for me it’s just really what I need.”
