Martin Brundle had a nightmare at the Miami Grand Prix but most memorable grid walk moment was Ozzy Osbourne and his s****** dogs

The US was introduced to Martin Brundle’s hilarious Formula 1 grid walks at the weekend as a case of mistaken identity went viral, but viewers will be surprised to learn that things have previously gone far worse.

The former Williams and McLaren driver has turned into one of the sport’s most loved pundits after retiring, and the Miami Grand Prix showcased exactly why.

And his mistake in Miami was one to remember

Brundle has been walking the grid doorstepping celebrities for a quarter of a century now, but few of his pre-race shows have been more must-watch than the one in South Florida.

The 62-year-old was left mystified by global music stars DJ Khaled and Pharrel Williams, but the most iconic moment came when he mistook an NBA draftee for NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes.

Brundle has since Tweeted his dislike of the pre-race shows, saying: “There’s a reason why I’ve never watched back an F1 gridwalk in a quarter of a century of doing them.

“You have no idea how much I dislike doing them but somehow those crazy moments have defined my professional career. Oh well, that’s the way it is.”

However, it’s not always bad news for the former teammate of Michael Schumacher and Ayrton Senna, who has a stand-out candidate when asked to name his favourite interview.

“Ozzy Osbourne in Montreal,” he said in an instant.
