Tributes pour in for Moto3 star Jason Dupasquier, who dies aged 19 after horror crash at Italian Grand Prix
Tributes have come pouring in for MOTO3 star Jason Dupasquier, who died in hospital aged just 19 after a horror crash on Saturday. He was 19.
The Swiss rider was struck by another bike towards the end of qualifying at the MotoGP Italian Grand Prix.
Dupasquier was airlifted to hospital before his death was announced on Sunday morning.
MotoGP confirmed on Twitter: “We’re deeply saddened to report the loss of Jason Dupasquier.
“On behalf of the entire MotoGP family, we send our love to his team, his family and loved ones.
“You will be sorely missed, Jason. Ride in peace.”
Meanwhile, Dupasquier’s team, Prustel GP, said in a statement: “It’s with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Jason Dupasquier.
“We’re devastated, and at this time all of our thoughts are with Jason’s family. You’ll be sorely missed and never forgotten, Jason.”
MotoGP legend Jorge Lorenzo stated: “My deepest condolences to Jason Dupasquier’s family, friends and team. Ride in peace Jason.”
Formula One star Sergio Perez wrote: “Very sad news! All my prayers with Jason and his family. Rip champ…”

Dupasquier made his Moto3 debut in 2020 and took part in all 15 rounds with Prustel.
He has secured his first top 15 finish, clocking 30 points in the opening five rounds in 2021.
It was decided the Italian GP would continue on Sunday with organisers stating they were racing with the late rider at ‘the forefront of our minds.’
However, Swiss Moto2 rider Tom Luthi opted to end his involvement for the weekend and had travelled to hospital to be alongside countryman Dupasquier and his family.
