Marketa Vondrousova left shocked by state of court at WTA Finals in despairing seven-word verdict
Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova has become the latest player to hit out at the Women’s Tennis Association.
Vondrousova was quick to criticise the conditions of the courts following her opening match defeat to Iga Swiatek at the WTA Finals.

The Czech star took to Instagram to voice her displeasure at the state of the quickly-laid temporary court in Cancun, Mexico.
Vondrousova has followed world number one Aryna Sabalenka in speaking out, after the 25-year-old claimed she felt disrespected over the playing conditions.
Alongside a video showing the deficiencies with the court showing the ball dying soon after bouncing, Vondrousova wrote on social media: “So so sad for all of us.”
The 24-year-old later added a further statement on her Instagram story, which read: “My first WTA Finals is not at all what I imagined.
“We work hard all year to get to the finals and in the end it’s just a disappointment.
“(The) stadium is not at all ready for the matches and to me it feels like the people from WTA are absolutely not interested in how we – who are supposed to play on that court feel.
“We do not feel that anyone listens to us and is interested in our opinions. Very sad.”
It is the third year in a row the host of the tournament was decided less than two months before the start of the event.
Vondrousova took a commanding 5-2 lead in the first set against Swiatek.
But the Pole hit back, winning four-consecutive games before taking control of the second set to win 7-6, 6-0.
The other match on Monday saw US Open Champion Coco Gauff see off the challenge of Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur 6-0, 6-1 in under an hour to claim her first WTA Finals victory.
